You do not suck at giving prompts, at all! I don't know if you remember, but I said (cryptically) a few days ago that my problem with writing for this exchange was that I wanted to fill ALL the prompts; I liked them all so much. I almost wrote Jim/Bill porn, but I decided I couldn't do that without it just being straightforward RP porn, which was obviously not really the point, here. So I attempted to fill all the prompts, and then sort of ended up not quite fulfilling any, but I had the feeling as I was writing that I knew you well enough to be able to guess which parts of the prompts were important to you (ie, the meta, the Bill-centricness) and plot accordingly. ;)
Seriously, I had about eight different fic ideas. I wish I could have written them all. I so wanted to write 1970s angsty hotel-room porn, too.
A lot of this came from Get A Life, which sort of mooshed with I Am Spock in my mind and had babies. I was intrigued by the way Bill talks about killing Kirk, how he panicked when he realised it was actually going to happen and attempted to change it, and then immediately resurrected him in book form because he couldn't stand for him to be dead. It was so similar to some of the things Nimoy said about killing Spock in his book, that I ended up with this Bill who talks to, or at least feels Kirk in his head, on some level. I definitely feel that he thinks of himself as Kirk's keeper, is deeply protective of Kirk, feels like he knows more about Kirk than anyone else, etc. The way he randomly says "I'm Captain Kirk!" and yet of course he isn't, and jabdfkjbsdkgb.
And the giggle actually worked its way in there before you posted, or even brought up, that track of him talking about the movie! So that was a total coincidence, but amusing. :)
Anyway, I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKED THIS. I hoped you would. I love writing for you because, as I say, I like to think I can sense what you will and won't want, whether it obeys the letter of the prompt or not. Love you too! xx
