'Fuck' as a curse is an interesting one -- I think the main issue with it is that it has become de-emphasised within the last fifty years, and certainly only then has it become printable (hence the Lady Chatterly trial, of course.) But if you read, say, the personal letters of Lord Byron you will find that it was largely in use on a personal level at that time, just not in circulation in the formal language.
