Oh man, I missed this somehow, but [livejournal.com profile] paxlux was kind enough to link me. I didn't even know I wanted to read this until I did, and it seems especially timely with the recent announcement of season 7 being a go. I say that because I've had a lot of discussions over the last few days about how we all feel about getting another season, and whether or not some of us who've been around a while are done writing in this fandom, etc. The thing is, I've written stuff since season 3, but it was all set previous to that time in the series. I mean I've enjoyed the show since then, but I haven't been inspired to write fic that's set much after Mystery Spot. I think the reason for that is the difference in brothers' relationship since Dean came back from hell, you know? And that's been one of the best things about this season so far, they way they're coming back together.

All that is by way of saying that I love the acknowledgment of that relationship here, almost like we're back to the old days. This is perfect:

The look Dean had on his face the whole time Sam was getting his leg set at the hospital, like Sam had been outright murdered and Dean was ready to wreak vengeance just as soon as he'd snuck off somewhere for a little weepfest.

And I like this part a lot:

Other people assume this is what they get up to behind closed doors, but they assume it because of all the other couple stuff that they do see - how Dean grins at Sam right after he's insulted him, how they finish each other's sentences and have each other's backs.

When I was in high school I had a very close female friend (we still are, actually) and people were always asking if we were sisters, even though I never thought we looked anything alike, and I finally realized that it was because of the way we interact. We weren't physically intimate (or not until later, anyway), but people saw that intimacy, how in sync we were and thought "family". Nowadays, people see the same thing and think "lovers."

Anyway, this is absolutely beautiful, hon.
