I thought of Band of Brothers, and clicked Army, and then I thought about the South Pacific, and changed it to Navy, then back to Army, then... augh!

You know, I have never in my life read JDM/Jensen, but this, I am reading, regardless of which service you pick.

So my grandfather was a mechanic in the army during WWII. He fixed aircraft (after accidentally being sent to work in the kitchen to peel potatoes - which he did without a single complaint 'cause that's just the kinda guy he was) and I'm no history buff, but I'm pretty sure the US didn't have a dedicated Airforce at the time. I think it was combined with the army or the navy. BUT YES. PLANES. NO BOATS.

This is totally my impression alone with no facts to back it up, but I don't think the different branches work together enough for a romance to develop. Also, I think heard_the_owl is right - the pilots were Navy to begin with. I think. I know the Luftwaffe was well developed and huge and the RAF were tiny and unbelievably heroic and clever, but I don't know about a USAF.

UNHELPFUL COMMENT IS UNHELPFUL. If I had time I would hit up Wikipedia, because now I am curious, but I am on the way to work.

I just looked it up on the USAF website, and apparently they were a branch of the army during WWII, the Armed Air Forces (which was also the case with the RFC before it became the RAF). But I would imagine there were also Navy pilots, because there still are Navy pilots in both the Royal and US Navies, so...

What if Captain Morgan had joined the RAF before the US got into the war (which happened) and Jensen comes along as a brand new US pilot when the US came over to help? Or a liaison? Something? :DDDDDDDD
