why can't all the things that are in my head just be written, though? WORLD, WHY SO UNJUST? My SDMB in particular already exists in outline form, but now having written the outline I really wish it would just write itself.

Don't even talk to me about any of the other things I have foolishly signed up for. Or my BB, for that matter.

Anyone have a spare hole in the ground?

I started something titled "Wincest Coda" three days after the finale aired, hoping to have it finished in a day or two because I'd already posted my D/C coda and I like to be fair or something. The thing is now nearly 8000 words long, showing no signs of approaching its ending, and still doesn't have a real title.

I too wish things would write themselves.

I am highly jealous that you have an outine =P

I absolutely have an outline! Granted, this is mostly because [livejournal.com profile] lazy_daze gave me a great idea and I then knocked up an outline before I forgot about it, but since then I have not touched it. Fail.

Haha, you are still lightyears ahead of me. I may resort to trolling old prompts to see if something sparks.

Considering the conversation about this outline I enjoy the term "knocked up" that you let loose up there. Intended or happy accident?

Accidental but glorious!

lolllllllllll no. We just wound up having a conversation about how [livejournal.com profile] checkthemargins doesn't like it when knotting makes nods to possible mpreg.

I THINK "'M GONNA BREED YOU UP'" IS HOT DIALOGUE AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY HAPPEN, OKAY? I HAVE DOUBLE STANDARDS AND I LIKE THEM.

I THINK I LIKE BOTH POSSIBILITIES.

irl pregnancy gives me body horror feels so i really can't explain why i find this hot in fic.

I read a really terribly mpreg many moons ago that has made it my NUMBER ONE SQUICK. I can't even look at it. And I really just don't like fic with kids underfoot. I do sometimes, J2 fic-with-children (of the adopted sort, naturally, ;)) can be really cute and fun, but Supernatural is not the world for kids for me. Especially because Sam and Dean are NOT SOUND INDIVIDUALS AND SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHILDREN, HOLY MOLY. And with Sam/Dean mpreg there's the whole genetic incest issue, which makes me handwave, so y'know. IDK.

I like it best when Sam is in some kind of mental or physical pain. IT IS NOT SO MUCH TO ASK GEEZE. *is shifty*

And I'm with you on the pregnant thing. It makes my body want to shrivel up. In the like, hazy hypothetical future, I see myself with kids. But then I'm like LOL OMG THAT LOOKS UNCOMFORTABLE AND GROSS.

i want to agree with you because it makes sense but i read a sam/dean mpreg kinkmeme fill just yesterday and I LIKED IT.

sometimes I feel like there is a gap between what i know is a good idea for a story and what i actually like to read. i blame fandom for ruining some important part of my brain.

Yeah, that's totally happened to me on many things I swore I WOULD NEVER BE INTO. And then, y'know [livejournal.com profile] lazy_daze wrote it and I was like "OH, Okay I get it. I'm in."

Life is hard.

I did read a knotting fic with Sam/Dean and there was total mpreg gonna happen but it was a blindfold fill or something and so it was just the porn, and anyway, it was seriously hot. I felt a little dirty, but it was seriously hot.

ahahaha maybe that was the same thing i read. (was it bottom!sam?) It was hot! IDK! fuck you fandom!

Yeah, and pre-series stuff, so he was like 15 or 16 or something, idek, it was scorching hot though. Fandom is a magical, horrible place.

Oh God this happened to me yesterday; stumbled onto genderswap Sam/Dean with pregnant!Dean and priapism!Sam. There is nothing beside the Sam/Dean there that should've grabbed me and yet I was suddenly commenting and asking about sequels idek.

Fandom. It's a beautiful, tangled ball of kinky contradiction.

yeah, I don't even like Sam/Dean all that much. I definitely don't ship it, and it actively squicks me when it's at all schmoopy or cutesy.

The wronger it is, the more in character and appealing it is to me. THIS FANDOM, I SWEAR.

i totes can't write two of my prompts and the third one wasn't immediately inspiring to me. idk why but for some reason i assumed that my prompts would just allow me to write a lot of rpf smut but that was, uh, pretty foolish in retrospect.

I have never had an outline. Ever. I just write something and hope it sprouts writing tentacles that connect to the next something.

Maybe if you wrote the outline on a scrap of paper and put it in a flowerpot on a sunny windowsill and watered it?

Date: 2012-06-04 11:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] obstinatrix.livejournal.com
I don't usually do outlines either, and I think I did this one wrong because it spontaneously started to generate porn in the middle, but I really wanted to write it out before I forgot my Great Plan!

The watering thing is always worth a shot.

I've dug a lovely little hole over here, and you are quite welcome to join me. It's dark and dank, and piled high with deadlines.

You've got an outline for SDMB? Brilliant news. I don't even have the vaguest inkling of a plot.

and oh god bigbang. i post in just a few days and am nowhere near ready. eeep.

Anyone have a spare hole in the ground?

We can share mine - mostly I just use it now to hide from my finals and the myriad of approaching deadlines but it's really just a multi-purpose kind of hole ;)

What I always want is a piece of software that will take my dictation, so that I can just pace up and down the room, flailing wildly and the computer will keep up. As it is however, voice recognition is so bad, that last time I told my phone to call "ANDY" (my brother) it somehow put me through to "UNI LIBRARY".*headdesk* I seriously don't want to know what that would make of a full dictation of fic or...say that paper I need to hand in tomorrow :(

*crawls back into hole*

edit: multi-purpose kind of hole sounds really wrong after reading it one more time...

The other day I was talking to my friend about the Space Odysseys, and I happened to remember a thing in 3001 called a Thoughtwriter. It's exactly what it sounds like, and I was just thinking about how many more of my WIPs would be finished--or significantly progressing--if I had something like that. Pretty much whenever I'm not focused on something else, I'm thinking about one of my stories, writing it in my head...it's just actually writing it for real that seems to never get done. :-\

Obstinatrix - I absolutely cannot wait to read your BB; I mean really, I bought your book after reading the SPN version - and you have your own 'fan' right here :)

I hope this is the encouragement I intended it to be, and not, OMG - high expectations :'l Because it will be amazing :D

There, I think I just managed to dig my own hole of embarrassment - you are now welcome to it! XD

Seriously though, the whole 'I have a great idea but can't write it down thing'? - My life is this right now, I mean, full on novel I am hoping to get published that involves angels and therefore calls for an SPN slash rewrite; but, it is all locked up in my head! D:

Good luck with your novel!
